LED Facial

LED Facial

Facials are among the most popular spa services available and for very good reason. If you are considering receiving any sort of facial treatment at a spa, you likely already know that this relaxing experience can be highly beneficial to your complexion, yielding the fresh, radiant, and youthful skin you love. But while it’s true that facials, in general, can help to eliminate dry, dead skin, and clogged pores, choosing the exact facial treatment that is best suited to your skin type and condition can ensure that you experience the most outstanding results possible. There are a wide variety of facial treatments, each designed to address a specific concern or situation. An LED facial treatment is particularly suitable for the purposes of deep cleansing, stimulating collagen production, and reducing inflammation, which makes it absolutely ideal for all skin types.

What is an LED Facial Treatment

LED light skin therapy is a non-invasive facial treatment that is relaxing, painless, and extremely beneficial to the skin. As part of this therapy, a group of bright, light-emitting diodes are placed over the face for anywhere between five to thirty minutes, allowing low-level light energy to penetrate deeply into the skin–stimulating its natural healing properties while eliminating troublesome bacteria. LED facials can be used after an intense peel or extractions to help stimulate the healing of the skin. A regular facial will actually produce more break outs due to the massaging technique.

The first part of an LED facial is a deep cleansing treatment, including steaming and exfoliation, to ensure that the skin is as pure as possible and therefore fully ready to receive the LED treatment and benefit from it. Then, while you relax comfortably, the LED machine will be placed over your face and three different LED lights of different wavelengths and functions will be emitted onto your skin. The amber light works to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, the red light works to reduce inflammation and promote better circulation, and the infrared light works to accelerate the skin recovery process. LED treatment can help to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, sun-damage, and stretch marks. It is far gentler than more extensive procedures like plastic surgery or laser treatments, though admittedly the results are also far less dramatic.

Following the LED exposure, the skin is normally carefully inspected and any necessary extractions performed, before the skin is once again cleansed to help remove any remaining bacteria. Finally, a hydrating mask finishes off the treatment. Some of the most noticeable and desirable results include a smoother, clearer complexion that is cleaner and less inflamed. These results can be maintained with further LED facials received every one to two months, which are often especially appreciated during the winter when it can cause the individual to feel like they are being gently exposed to natural, warm sunlight.

While the eyes aren’t harmed or damaged by LEDs and therefore don’t have to be covered, many spas choose to cover them simply to allow for a more deeply relaxing experience. There is no risk of burning, as can sometimes occur with laser treatments, and absolutely no chance of discomfort or pain, as can sometimes occur with IPL treatments.

Following up your LED facial with the right skincare routine can ensure that you receive the full results you desire for as long as possible. Your aesthetician will discuss the skin care routine that is best for your skin type, and will likely recommend the regular facial treatments that will help to promote the healthy, nourished skin that looks youthful and radiant.
