4 Tips for Looking Pretty While Fighting the Flu

We’ve all had to suffer through the many discomforts of the flu. From the moment we wake up until the moment we drift into a restless sleep, all of our attention is fixated on getting some relief–and hoping against hope that no one we know will have a chance to see us with our puffy eyes, red nose, and vapor rub perfume. Fortunately, there are ways to look pretty while effectively fighting the flu.

Looking Pretty While Fighting the Flu

While it may not be the first thing we think of while we are suffering from the flu, we normally recognize that looking good helps us feel good. It follows then that taking action to improve our looks while also fighting the flu may help us heal faster. Consider these beauty-improving and flu fighting tips:

  1. Enjoy some steam. Whether you choose to take a long, hot bath, sit in the bathroom while running a hot shower or visit your spa’s steam room, you will benefit greatly. Steam can not only help to clear your sinuses and soothe your aching throat, it will help you sweat out the dirt and oil that clogs and dulls your skin, leaving your skin fresh and glowing.

  2. Hydrate your nose and face. Perhaps one of the most obvious signs that you are under the weather is your raw, red nose. Considering that you cannot entirely avoid wiping and blowing your nose time and again while you have the flu, you will have to do something to help counter this. Hydrating your nose and your face with a gentle, ultra-rich moisturizer can help immensely.

  3. Drink lots of healthy tea. Fluids are critical to a healthy body, and they are even more important when you’re sick. Your body is working very hard to eliminate immense amounts of toxins, and fluids can help to ensure they are smoothly flushed from your system. Water is helpful, but healthy teas with gotu kola, chamomile and ginger can go one step further by not only providing hydration but also assisting with your skin and digestion.

  4. Eat well. Eating may be the last thing on your mind when you are fighting the flu, but your body needs plenty of nutrients in order to successfully fight off viruses and rebuild its strength. Eating healthy, nutrient-rich foods can not only supply what your body needs but can also help to keep you looking well-nourished instead of worn-out.
