4 Ways to Add Essential Oils to Embrace the Fall Season

Fall is often viewed as a season of wonderful and very welcome change, plus it’s so dreamy and ideal for family photoshoots (hello Christmas card!). Especially after a long, hot summer, the transition into the cooler fall season can help us feel refreshed and renewed, not to mention pull out those cozy sweaters and stylish boots!  However, the transition into cooler weather and shorter days can be difficult—on our skin, schedule, and stress levels. That is unless finding an easy way to maintain a healthy balance of those three things throughout the transition. Essential oils can help make it possible and we help you learn how!

Finding Peace with Essential Oils

Essential oils are natural oils found in the seeds, bark, stem, roots, flowers and other parts of plants. They carry the aroma of that plant and have been utilized for centuries for medicinal and spiritual purposes, and recently are all the rage in skin care products. They’ve long since been used for both spiritual and physical benefits, helping an individual to achieve balance despite a variety of conditions. These are four simple ways you can find your center and soothe your stress levels with essential oils during the fall season:

1. Fill your home with the aroma of spice and citrus.  Diffusing spice and citrus essential oils, such as cinnamon, clove, fennel, orange, lemon, or tangerine in your home can help stimulate the pleasurable feelings that naturally come with the fall season.  These fragrant oils can work to inspire comfort, abundance, safety, security, and satisfaction.

2. Use warm essential oils for massages or baths.  Massages and warm baths seem to fit perfectly into the fall season, as they allow us to relax and unwind before the busy season picks up. By adding essential oils into these experiences, you can reap their full benefits. Lavender, bergamot, and eucalyptus are comforting essential oils that work wonderfully for both massages and baths to soothe our nerves and promote relaxation.

3. Try out a body oil, lotion or perfume with essential oils.  Obviously, the extensive benefits of essential oils are best obtained when you’re surrounded by their aroma as continually as possible. By adding a body oil, lotion or perfume with essential oils such as grapefruit, lavender or patchouli, you can experience the refreshing, fulfilling scent of these oils throughout the day and perhaps even inspire others with the scent!

4. Make a natural fall spice potpourri using essential oils.  With mixed spices like cloves, allspice berries, bay leaf, cinnamon sticks, and nutmegs, along with rosemary essential oil sprinkled over the top, you can create a highly fragrant, pleasing and natural fall spice potpourri that works to relax you and bring a sense of calm to your home!

These oils can be found all over the place, from online to markets, and it makes it that much easier for you to choose a simple way to unwind. Another important element that uses essential oils is massage therapy, which was mentioned above. Incorporating essential oils into your massage appointment is a surefire way to paving a fast and pleasant path to improving your mood, relaxing your body, recharging your mind, and helping relieve tension!
